Geum spp.

Avens

Geums are close relatives of strawberries, and you’ll notice a similarity in the foliage. They bloom in an astounding array of colors and multitudes of flowers are held up by long stems so that they seem to float in the air. We grow a lot of these, and they tolerate our shady conditions well. We’ve seen some begin to bloom as early as February, and most will reliably rebloom if cut back.
